Introduction

My name is Jessica O'Cheltree, I am 20 years old. I enjoy reading and writing and because of this I am studying to become a book editor and author. I spend my time with my friends, my sister Teri, reading and writing. The only language I am fluent in is English, but I am being taught Swedish by one of my closest friends who is from Gothenburg, Sweden. Also I took four semesters of Spanish in high school, unfortunately very little stuck with me. I am taking ENG 213 because I thought it would be beneficial for my major which is English/Creative writing. I also am taking it because it sounded interesting. My experiences with language are stated above but I will repeat them: I have a friend from Sweden who is teaching me Swedish as well as having taken Spanish in high school. I also know a few words in Italian and French.

    Swedish sounds interesting. I never tried it but after knowing a few Swedes I can pick it out in a crowd, usually. I look forward to seeing your creative writing on this blog.

    I have actually wanted to become an author at one point. But I feel that my books are more meant for me than the eyes of other people. As for learning Swedish it seems like an amazing language to learn. Seems like it could be a little difficult.

    I have always wanted to be a book editor (well, I may still pursue it but I am not sure). Right now, I am taking a creative writing class online with Prof Mathes. I like it so far and we haven't even started. I also took four semesters of Spanish (not consecutively) but boy, was that an interesting time especially with a teacher who was hardly present. Anyway, I wish you good luck on your Swedish and hope for a wonderful introduction to language class with you as a fellow classmate!

    I am so glad to not be the only one who studied Spanish in high school and have nothing to show for it! Creative writing is the best kind I think, so it's awesome that you are majoring in that.
